The Up-to-Date Buzz on the
Farmland Preservation Plan

The county-wide FPP ensures that DATCP requirements are met for successfully protecting areas of land for agricultural or forestry purposes, into the future. Landowners located in a designated farmland preservation area are then eligible for participation in voluntary farmland preservation agreements with the state in order to claim farmland preservation tax credits. By entering into this agreement, a farmer agrees to keep land in agricultural use for 15 years.

This document is intended to fulfill the statutory requirements for both the Farmland Preservation Plan (Chapter 91, Subchapter II, WI Statutes) and the Agricultural Element of the Comprehensive Plan (s66.1001(2), WI Statutes).
