THE 2021 CONSERVATION AWARENESS
SPEAKING AND POSTER CONTEST

COUNTY CONTEST DETAILS ARE BELOW:

The Oneida County Land & Water Conservation Department is excited to announce the 2021 Wisconsin Land & Water Conservation Speaking and Poster Contest.  The poster contest is open to Oneida County students in kindergarten through twelfth (K-12) grades and the speaking contest is open to Oneida County youth enrolled in grades 5-12. This year’s nationwide poster contest theme is Healthy Forests = Healthy Communities.

This year, entries (both speaking and poster) are due in our office by Thursday, January 7th by NOON.  The local speaking contest will be held on Wednesday, January 13th, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Speakers will be live (in person) in the County Board Room and will give their speeches to our judges (two judges will be judging in person in the County Board Room and remaining judges are scheduled to be remote (through Zoom link).  Judging begins around 5:00 p.m. and speakers will be spaced every half hour for safety.  Times for each speaker to present their speech will be announced as soon as registration forms are received.

UPDATE: Our Contest was actually held virtually this year.  At the last minute arrangements were made to have the school tape the speakers and those videos were made available to our three Judges. Judges sent their score sheets in and we verified the winners' scores.  CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE SPEAKERS!  they did a super job despite all the challenges this year.

Oneida County FORMS are below for both contests.  First place winners from the local contest will have the opportunity to compete at the area contest, nowly set for January 27. THIS MEETING WILL BE HELD VIRTUALLY. If you have any questions, please contact jjewell@co.oneida.wi.us  or call 715-369-7835.  You can also follow this link:

For students who do not live in Oneida County (because this email may reach out beyond our borders) please contact me and I will connect you with your local Land & Water department.
Please share this announcement with parents, neighbors, and our youth!
