The City of Rhinelander, Lumberjack Resource Conservation & Development Council, Wisconsin Headwaters Invasive Partnership (WHIP), Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, , Oneida County Master Gardeners, and Oneida County have come together to battle the spread of invasive species in the City of Rhinelander.

The City of Rhinelander Department of Public Works will collect and cut piles of invasive plants for safe disposal.  To schedule a pickup of invasive plants, please call 715-369-4727, and ask to be put on "The Buckthorn List".  City crews have arranged to keep this brush (and its leaves, berries, and stems) contained at a secure site to avoid spread, and then arrange transport to a Tomahawk location for burning.  Along with Buckthorn brush, if you are aware of any other invasive plants (Garlic Mustard, Japanese Knotweed, or exotic Honeysuckles), they can be collected as well.

We appreciate your help in gathering invasive species from your property.  Together we can slow the spread of invasive species in the Northwoods!   For more information, please call 715-369-7835 or email msadauskas@co.oneida.wi.us.

But what if you don't live within the city limits of Rhinelander?  You can take your INVASIVE SPECIES (buckthorn, exotic Honeysuckle, Japanese Knotweed, etc.) to the County Landfill.  Invasive Species MUST be bagged in clear bags, tied tightly and labeled with the following:  "Invasive Plants - Approved by WI DNR for Landfills".  COST IS $4 PER BAG.  Landfill hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday Through Friday and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to Noon.
