Here's a little newzzzzz about Cost Share Grants

We have our projects for our 2026 installation.
These individual projects can receive $10,000 or 50% of the
total cost of the project - whichever is less.

We are now taking applications for projects for a 2027 install!

Please contact us if you would like
to schedule a site visit and/or are interested in our cost share program!
  • Our program's #1 GOAL is to protect water quality and conserve soil resources!
  • The Oneida County Conservation & UW-Extension Education (CUW) Committee approves/denies all projects based on the project's contribution to water quality protection.
  • Installed practices must remain in place for 10 years and are subject to site visits as determined by the Land and Water Conservation Department.
  • A W9 is required in our Finance department before the county can issue a reimbursement check for Cost Share funding.  Issuing a check generates a W2 at the end of the year for the Cost Share client.  It is up to the Cost Share recipient and their accountant to determine how Cost Share funds are reported on yearly tax returns.  For more information check here: (Tax Preparer Information for Cost Share Clients)
  • A refundable deposit of $500 for non-engineered projects and $1,000 for engineered projects is required on each approved cost share project.
If you are interested in SCHEDULING a site visit,

Each Cost Share project is completely
unique. Construction plans are designed
specifically for each landowner and meet
strict
state and county specifications.
To qualify for reimbursement of any project year costs

(50% of the total project cost or the current
year's cap amount, whichever is less)
,
landowners must follow design plans
and
construction must be Engineer,
LWCD, and CUW Committee approved
upon completion.

Project Ranking Form
Oftentimes, we don't have enough cost share funding to provide money to all those who apply for the program.  The form below assists us in prioritizing which projects Oneida County can partially fund.  Click on the button below to take a look at how we do that.

Agreement
Deposit Agreement
A project deposit is required to enroll in the Cost Share program and must be submitted before design work begins. Engineered practices such as rock riprap; enviroloc bags, and curlex blocs, etc., require a $1,000 deposit.  Non-engineered practices, such as native plantings and rain gardens, require a $500 deposit.

Deposits are refundable upon the successful completion and approval of each Cost Share Project.  (
If the Landowner terminates the project after the plan has been developed, the Landowner will forfeit the deposit to Oneida County Land and Water Conservation Department.)

Sample Construction Plan
All construction plans are designed by the Oneida County Conservationist, the Cost Share Technician, our Shoreline Specialist and our DATCP Engineer. Plans follow state recognized standards and projects are overseen by the Oneida County Land and Water Conservation Department from the initial site visit to sign off. Additionally, LWCD performs follow-up site visits on completed projects as staffing allows.
