Work on the following 2018 projects began in the Fall, with plantings scheduled for Spring of 2019.  Projects have "before" photos of each property and estimated costs, except for Bearskin Lake - which has a few "after" photos once rip rap was installed.

Lake Nokomis Project
Estimated Cost:  $31,000

This project will consist of a seawall removal with 100' of rock rip rap replacement, removal of pathway stones, and planting of 3 trees, 6 shrubs, and 77 groundcover plants.  Planting will be done in the Spring of 2019. Pathway stones will be replaced with a no-mow walkway.

Lake Minocqua Project
Estimated Cost: $65,000+

This project will consist of seawall removal, protecting 450' of lake frontage with rock rip rap, planting 5 trees, 38 shrubs, and 616 groundcover plants.  Planting will be done in the Spring of 2019.

Work continues on this project this winter.
WJFW-TV Channel 12 did a piece on this site.  You can watch it by clicking on the photo above. When rock rip rap is sent by chute to the shoreline about 50 feet away, as seen in this video, it helps to protect the landscape and the shoreline.  The contractor will lay all rock by hand.

Small Correction in the story:  Contractors are hired by landowners, not Oneida County.  The County designs and coordinates the project.
